Taking a dog to France - or other countries in the EU - post Brexit, means that you have to comply with certain requirements. Pet Passports issued previously in Great Britain will no longer be valid for travel to the EU.
Make sure you have your pet's important health documents as follows:
Pet must be microchipped
Rabies vaccination must be up-to-date and done at least 21 days prior to travel (pet needs to be at least 12 weeks old before they can be vaccinated).
The Animal Health Certificate (AHC) is the new dog passport and must be issued by your vet within 10 days of travelling to the EU (you can re-enter Great Britain for four months from the date of issue and the AHC can only be used for one return trip; a new one will need to be issued for every trip to the EU).
Tapeworm treatment administered by an approved vet prior to your return to Great Britain - no less than 24 hours and no more than 5 days (we allocate time in our itineraries for the quick visit to the english-speaking vet in Paris with follow-up instructions on the procedure).
Plan your pet food; bringing personal goods containing meat or milk into the EU is legally not allowed. This includes any wet or dry food or treats containing meat, unless your vet confirms in writing that your pet is on a special diet for medical reasons, in which case you are allowed up to 2kg. We recommend carrying dry, vegan kibble on your journey to Paris.
